| Abstract: |
David Tennenhouse discusses the concept of "proactive computing," in which networked computers proactively anticipate our needs and, sometimes, take action on our behalf. Proactive computing contrasts with the model of interactive or "human-centered" computing which has been the dominant model in computer science for almost 40 years.
