To make it easier to find events within a certain time range, we've provided the various "predefined queries" at the top of the search page. You can choose to get a list of all archived events from a particular year or within a certain number of days before or after today's date. If you need more exact searching, see the next section, "Custom Searching".
The webcast database allows you to search for events on a number of criteria. You should note that the more information you enter, the more restrictive the search will be. For example, searching for titles that contain "Rice" will return more matches than a search for titles that contain "Rice" and were sponsored by "Information Technology department". The search also matches entire phrases, not keywords, so searching for "Rice University" will likely return fewer results than "Rice" alone. This search is not case sensitive.
TIPS FOR ENTERING DATES
When entering dates, they MUST be formatted in the YYYY-MM-DD format (4-digit year followed
by a dash, then a 2-digit month followed by a dash, and finally a 2-digit day). When
possible, try to use the DHTML/Javascript calendar tool (click the icon to the right of the
date box) to help you enter dates. This calendar may not be supported by all browsers.
ARCHIVE STATUS
By default, a search will return ANY matches including those events that may be in the
future or have recently passed but do not have any media. If you would like to restrict
your results to ONLY those events that have archived media (available at any time), check
the box next to "Only show events with archived media."
SORTING
Certain queries may result in a large number of event matches. To help you quickly locate
your desired event you might want to alter the way the results are sorted. You can sort by
date, title, or sponsor name; each option can sort in either direction – that is, titles
and sponsors can be sorted from A-to-Z or Z-to-A, and dates can be sorted in forward or reverse
chronological order.
